Before You Build
|
Before you build, make sure you consider the following crucial points. They'll save you money and headaches in the future. |
I. Interview Home Owners Just as you would check references before hiring an employee, you'll want to find out what other home owners are saying about your prospective builder. Ask for a list of people you can talk to about their building experiences. Any reliable builder will be happy to provide you with names and numbers. |
|
II. Interview The Builder Find out more about the building process by voicing |
|
III. Warranty Find out what unforeseen problems your builder's warranty covers, or it may cost you money in the long run. In other words, "Expect the unexpected." Because we value your trust, the Pine Tree Homes warranty covers structural faults and material failures over and above the manufacturer's warranty for the first year in your home. |
|
IV. The "No Hidden Costs" Myth Beware of builders who advertise prices too good to be true. When you're looking for estimates, make sure all your contractors are bidding on the same quality materials. Pay close attention to the permit, survey, sewer/septic and water/well costs. Also, who's responsible for the utilities? Are there sufficient allowances? Remember that builders who advertise "no hidden costs" may find a way to charge you for what they consider to be "extras." You wouldn't buy a car without finding out the extra costs for "luxury features" like air conditioning and power windows. And you shouldn't buy a house without knowing what "luxury features" are included. Pine Tree Homes believes in sharing those costs with you up front - not slipping them in the "luxury feature" category. Above all, don't be afraid to ask questions! |
|
V. Reputation Ask how long your prospective builder has been in business. Be sure to check with the West Bend Builder's Association to make sure your builder is a member in good standing. We're confident you'll like what you hear about Pine Tree Homes. |

Don't just trust our word - trust our customers: |

"As we have had time to reflect on the building of our home, we recall the
indirect means to our introduction, and the long road through planning,
design and construction. You listened intently, added your expertise
and put a good plan to paper. While your personalities are different, you share common ideals of quality, value and professionalism. You insist on these same ideals in your craftsmen and they all genuinely work to the same goals. These craftsmen, and of course, yourselves took floor plans, a whole lot of conversation and thought interpretation to turn two dimensional sketches into our three dimensional future. We never wanted a showcase home; we wanted to be different and unique. You delivered simple elegance. Thank you for a job well done.
In addition to the incredible and enjoyable journey of building our home
together, we have had the pleasure of becoming friends with both of you
and your families. Your friendship may be the greater reward." |

"A
number of years ago, Julie and I embarked on a mission to find a builder
to build our dream home. We spent the better part of two years going
to home shows, walking through dozens of model homes and talking with
perspective home builders. We asked a lot of questions of both
people we knew, as well as perfect strangers we had never met, in an
attempt to make an informed decision. We wanted a builder with the ability to build what we wanted, the way we wanted it. We wanted a builder that would allow us the flexibility to take our time, thoroughly discuss the details and not be rushed into something we weren't sure of. We wanted a builder that would be flexible and allow us the home owner, to complete some areas of the building process ourselves, allow us to have an active role in the entire building process and the flexibility to use our own resources where possible. Eight months after signing a contract with Pine Tree Homes I am please to say, we are in our new home and couldn't be happier. We had been warned of the "building horror stories" from friends who had bad new home experiences. Had they built with Pine Tree Homes they would have a different opinion of new home construction. It's not that there weren't any bumps in the road. It's how the bumps in the road are smoothed that makes all the difference. Every situation was resolved expeditiously with the result we wanted.
Julie and I ask that you pass a message on to your sub-contractors and
suppliers. We thank them for their hard work, attention to detail
and co-operation. They are all a great bunch of individuals.
Julie and I thank the both of you for your patience and understanding
through out the process. In closing, thank you again for a great
building experience. Julie and I will be sure to recommend Pine Tree
Homes to anyone who is in the new construction market." Al & Julie

"The home you two (& your "subs") did is all I dreamed about and to see it become a reality is wonderful. Thank you for taking the job of building a house most builders wouldn't, and walking me through the process. The fact you treated me with respect & patience meant a lot also. As long as you follow-up with the 1st year growing pains of the house (if any), I give you my warmest thank you." Greg & KJ |
"Just wanted to thank you (again) for the great house you built me(& KJ) and for returning to do my warranty work. I continue to be very please with the house and thank both of you for being patient with me and your kindness." Greg & KJ |

"We wanted to tell you how we appreciated the outstanding job you did on our new home. We don't see how we could have picked a better builder. You built our house as if you were going to live in it yourself. Also, we really appreciate your never-ending patience with our questions during the building process. As busy as you both are, you never once neglected to listen to our concerns and you always put our mind at ease. Feel free to use us as a reference, as we have nothing but good things to say about Pine Tree Homes." Ron & Geri F. |
